I purchased a 2nd generation 8GB Ipod Touch that was slightly used. The ad said it was like new and they couldn't have been any more right. It looked perfect. First off I would like to say that the iPod Touch is not made to be a music player. I would classify it as an ultra portable computer.
I purchased the 16gb version of the touch because I had an iPod Video 30gb, which was completely filled up. I had to cut down some but now I don't even use the touch as a music player. It is so sweet with all the apps you can get. Most of the apps you can get are free and are fully functional. You will have to purchase some if you want more features, but you shouldn't have to purchase any.
Pros:
+ Great Music Player
+ Wifi for internet, email, and everything else you would need to do
+ Games, you can get almost any game that you want for free or for cheap
Cons:
- Short battery life
- Not all apps are free
- Don't have horizontal keyboard in email

Its a good product overall but I am not satisfied because I bought this mainly to utilize over wi-fi but the battery life is horribly bad over wi-fi (less than 3 hrs per charge). As a music player it's great but then there are other great mp3 players. as a video player also its OK. But I am giving it 1 star because my purpose of using this over wi-fi was not solved. I would definitely give this 5 stars anyday. The iPod is so sleek and light and fits into your hand easily without any discomfort or pain. The touch-screen is very responsive and I've never had any problems with it. I don't have very wide or fat fingers, but I've heard complaints from people who did and they seem to all suggest getting a stylus. Once again I don't have any problem with it, so it works out for me. If you're in a good wi-fi hotspot(with high-speed internet) youtube streams greatly, usually never stops to load, and safari runs swiftly, about the speed you'd expect from a moderate computer. The iPod never gets hot while in use. You may see it increase several degrees while charging, but that's normal for most electric devices. Apps I would have to say are the best part of this product. I could spend hours playing them. Hundreds of free ones to choose from, so money isn't a deal if you were worried, but some of the best ones do cost money, but I would say it's worth it. The user interface was very easy to get used to. At first,(unless you've had an iPod touch 1st Gen) you won't know what some of the buttons do, but it shouldn't take more than a few days to figure it all out.
Oh and the videos(at least the ones bought from iTunes) play perfectly and I have watched a full 90 minute movie with my iPod not even fully charged, for those worried about battery life. I've heard 24 of just playing music is the average battery life, but if you're playing with apps or watching movies(especially if you have your brightness turned all the way up) will burn that battery life a lot quicker.

I bought this because I was travelling, and wanted something to store some music and games on for my trip. It was awsome to have an entire collection of songs to listen to during my 5 hour flight. Games too! I played games, and the time flew by. The best part about this iPod Touch, is I was able to get my boarding passes for my return flight home. The hotel's computer was down, so this little device was really a life saver! I find myself using it all the time just for fun. It's really light and small and fits easily into a purse or pocket-even with a case on it.

If you can't get an iPhone because you live where ATT isn't, then this is the best substitute. I'm sure it's all been said before, but this little gadget is the bomb. Get at least a 16gig memory so you can enjoy unlimited whatever in it. Easy to use, love the apps, what more can I say?

Originally, I've placed an order with Amazon on 03/22/09 for the "16GB iPod Touch" for my son 'coz that's what he wanted for his birthday. Amazon scheduled for its delivery on 03/30/09 but the shipment hasn't arrived as scheduled. Then Amazon sent me a shipment delay notice and rescheduled for delivery on 04/02/09. The shipment hasn't arrived on 04/02/09, Amazon sent me another delay notice and rescheduled for delivery on 04/07/09. The shipment hasn't shown up on 04/07/09, Amazon sent out another delay notice and rescheduled for delivery on 04/10/09..........then another delay notice and rescheduled for delivery on 04/15/09. I gave up and canceled my order with Amazon!
Meanwhile, I placed a new order with Amazon for the "8GB iPod Touch" instead, my son received his belated birthday gift..........finally!!!

I bought one for my husband a year ago and put off getting my own all this time. Think of all the fun I missed! I can now access my facebook and twitter from anywhere! Plus I can see my email no matter where I go...even on vacation....without hauling my laptop with me.
Then there are all the fun extra apps. Some you buy but there are tons that are free! (including facebook and twitter)
I transferred all my music from my old nano and it is cool to see the album cover while the music is playing (I did say my nano was OLD...over 2 years old).

There are NO NEGATIVES to Apple's 32GB Touch. Everything about this unit is fantastic. Downloads are simple...from Movies to ITunes. I was even able to download old radio programs such as "Our Miss Brooks", "Jack Benny", and so many others.
If you don't have $379.00 to spend on this wonderful unit, place it on your wish list and save for it. I have had the touch for over a year now and I love it. I like the space capacity it has for music, photos, videos and of course the endless apps. I am always looking for new games and apps to add because I can't get enough. It's also nice being able to carry a much smaller "computer" for internet. The only problems I have had with the Touch are having to restart it a couple times, which is easy. Also, Itunes is constantly coming out with new versions of apps that only work with the latest upgraded version. I recommend getting a case for it because it does scratch easier and I have dropped mine a couple times but it seems to handle it ok. Great Ipod! This is amazing piece of equipment from Apple. Apple stays by its standard.
I gave 4 star rating because Ipod gets really dirty due to finger prints. It needs cheap finger print resistant and scratch resistant film. Look what my company has developed after years of research. Its better than ZAG and 10x cheaper. Check video here:

It's incredible that costing what it does, you still have to spend additional $30 for a charger. Besides, despite coming with a USB cable, it will not charge from a PC or other standalone USB charger. It wont even charge from a previous version of a iPod charger. It will charge the battery only from an Apple USB port or a $30 charger that Apple sells.

It is impressive. The best part is the wifi connection and the free apps that can be loaded. You can get internet radio and select a wide range of music types. One of the apps connects to public radio (again via wifi). That almost makes up for the lack of having an FM radio imbedded in the unit. The picture quality is great! Tried a drive-thru diet coke at McDonald's today. New store. Gorgeous landscaping. Nice signs. Fitting architecture. Staff unloading delivery truck. But the guy actually said, "wait a minute, I have to reset the diet coke." I am not making this up. Five minutes later I drove away without a diet coke.
This experience is like my new iPod touch 32 GB (2nd Generation). Fantastic device. Incredible capability. Looks great. Very nice user interface. But the sound - yes, the sound - doesn't work right. When you plug in the earbuds to listen to iTunes, the socket apparently makes only marginal contact with the plug-in jack because only a little movement of the iPod causes the sound playback to stop. You have to jiggle the plug-in and press play again.
It gets better.
I sent the first unit to Apple for repair. They said they could not duplicate the problem and sent it back. It worked just as poorly as when I sent it in. So I asked Amazon to replace the device. They have graciously done so.
Now the replacement has the same problem. It's not just the Apple supplied earbuds. It's also the Bose earbuds that I separately purchased. Both sets of earbuds work fine when plugged into my laptop.
So a $370 iPod is essentially useless to listen to iTunes when I go for a walk in the evening.

I've been using the iPod touch for about a month now and it's a really handy accessory to have. For example, when you're at Whole Foods and you don't remember the recipe you're shopping for, you can just hook this baby up to the free Wi-Fi and search for your recipe. It holds a decent amount of music and videos and it's got a big enough screen to view videos. Reading on the screen can be a challenge since the zooming and scrolling can feel awkward, especially if you decide to put the iPod touch inside a sleeve that doesn't allow your fingers to really touch the edges of the screen. The touchscreen is definitely more sensitive to touch and typing than our Tomtom GPS but once again, putting the iPod touch inside a protective sleeve greatly hinders typing.
The major drawback is that if you have accessories that belonged to old iPods, such as chargers, speaker docks, car charger/players, they're most likely not going to charge this iPod. Your iPod touch will still output sound through older speaker docks and car charger/players but you'll get an annoying message that says "Charging is not available with this accessory".

Simply amazing! Now I do believe in aliens as how the heck did they get this type of technology? No stylus needed. I'm amazed it doesn't do voice recognition yet. Loading App's is a breeze and the LCD screen is second to none. Volume from the built in speaker is low so use the earphones for better quality of sound. Loading music is also a bit of a challenge when you are trying to set up songs in the different types of categories you may want to use. Also, since you can copy songs off of your CD's, make sure you get that training in so you don't end up with more than you need.
Overall it's just one amazing piece of electronic equipment.

The iPod Touch 2nd gen is great! And it is so much better than the first generation. I'm so glad I waited to buy this one!
Like everyone else, I was excited about the iPhone. But I am not an AT&T customer, and had no desire to switch. I also love my BlackBerry and am not too keen on a no-button phone. But the potentials of wifi and touchscreen with an accelerometer are amazing! When they came out with the iPod Touch, I was so excited! I've been buying iPods since 2003 and I've been dreaming of the day when my iPod is more like iTunes in my pocket.
That's why I was very disappointed when I went to the Apple store to check out the 1st generation iPod Touch. It was basically an iPod with a bigger screen. There was no interactivity. You couldn't delete, you couldn't make playlists, you couldn't edit your address book or calendar.
The second generation iPod is so much better. A big part of it was the software upgrade. The app store brings functionality that Apple never would have dreamed up on their own. But Apple also added a (tiny) external speaker which makes quick sharing even quicker and simpler, since you don't have to mess with earbuds. Another improvement over the previous model is an external volume switch, which is very handy because it allows you to adjust the volume without having to look at the device first, but adjust just by touch (what a concept!).
The UI still has some improvements that I would like to see made. The touch gestures take a little time to learn. I would like to see more capability with making playlists. I also don't like how the additional information that is displayed on tracks switched from the Comments field to the Lyrics field - and Apple doesn't let you customize things like that - which is very annoying.
When I first bought this iPod, I thought I would just use it to download apps and as a "fun" gadget. After all, it's only 8GB and I LOVE my 80GB iPod video, which I used every day until I bought the Touch. But now that I've had the Touch, I barely look at my old iPod! I use the Touch every day and it's really a joy to be able to see most of my tags. I love it! Does everything for entertainment. I am having surgery and need to be out of work all summer, in the bed for at least a week and I wanted to be able to listen to music, read, and not get bored. I've already downloaded a bunch of free Kindle books and actually enjoyed reading (so I don't have to get a Kindle yet), my music, and a bunch of free apps.
My only complaint is the headphones are painful and sound quality is poor. I have small ears and most bud phones are iritating. Luckily my RCA headphones (best headphones EVA!) came to the rescue. Now I can honestly say the music sounds awesome and I am very happy!!

I just got my itouch 2nd gen. yesterday. I've been playing with for a number of hours. It works great. No freezes or crashes. All apps work well. Music plays easily. Internet and email easy to set up and use. Wonderful device. There were some questions I wanted answered about the itouch and I'll give you the answers so you don't have to look around like i did.
1. Does it come with a charger?
Not a wall charger. It comes with a usb cable which will charge it, but your computer has to be on for it to do so.
2. Does it really have as much memory it says it has?
No. Most electronics don't. It is usually from a half gb to a gb taken for software. Keep this in mind when buying. If you get an 8 gb it really has about 7gb of free space!!
3. Is it worth it to buy a screen protector?
YES!!!!!! Go to your nearest iPlace store. They sell a two pack for $10. As soon as you get your iTouch, put one screen protector on (save the other). I can't tell you how many fingerprints are on mine already and I've only had it for a day!!
Make sure to download the newest version of itunes, or it won't work.

A friend told me how much she enjoyed her Ipod touch for email and internet access. I checked out the prices in my area at stores and Amazon had it at a lower price. I received the item in a few days (opted for rush service) but could have gotten it with free standard shipping. The only issue I had was syncing it with my computer, but I had a issue with my computer that got resolved. I like that I have access to all internet via free wireless locations and don't have to pay a monthly fee like the iPhone. I will use it on business trips to watch movies when flying. coming from a windows world, i started with a shuffle, then got a nano and then an apple airport extreme and a bunch of airport expresses. ap extreme is the apple router and the expresses are plug-in extensions which expand the wifi and also add an audio port (optical or analog!)so that you can stream your itunes throughout your house. turning each speaker port on or off and even broadcasting through the whole house!
i then found out that an itouch can be programmed (through an app) to act as a remote for the itunes on any computer on the network! the only comparable system i had seen which would give me whole house broadcasting was thousands of dollars. i bought the itouch and sure enough it worked as a remote. i could sit by the pool and select songs, create playlists, volume, etc from a deck chair.
and all of it worked perfectly.
BUT
the itouch has two flaws which do annoy me.
a) the battery life is awful. no other way to say it. i even bought a supplemental battery pack for it, but it sucks the energy right out ofthe pack as well
b) the safari browser is nightmarish. you can expand the text by double-clicking, but more often than not accidentally hit a link. there is no clear way to navigate from page to page. its very awkward and the lack of flash is unbearable.
now those two items are annoying, but the amount of good stuff included and available boggles the mind. it has a bug deterrent app! haha
i recognize that most people use their itouches for video and music and i found both of those to be wonderful experiences. a long drive was made much more bearable by watching an entire season of brothers & sisters.
unfortunately i cannot watch my amazon on demand on there which is annoying to no end.
games are fun on there. i got caught in lemonaide tycooon for days.
if you are willing to deal with crappy battery life (or like me, mainly want to use the itouch as a smart remote (did i mention that it even displays the album cover while the music plays on the airport express???) then this is a good buy. i heard that the 32gb has screen problems so probably best to stick to the 16GB
in conclusion, the outlandish feature set of the overall apple equipment that i bought caused me to reconsider my long-time windows/pc loyalty. here i was with a bunch of different mac items and they all did so much and i couldnt even browse the net on a windows machine without annoying crashes, that i decided to get a mac pc. my god 12GB of ram but thats a review for a different day. :)Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I think that the iPod Touch is the greatest MP3 player on the market. The only bad thing is, is that if you want to get the whole experience of the Touch, you have to have a wireless internet in your home, if you dont have the internet, I would recomend not buying this product. There are so many great things that the Touch can do, there is internet, great fun apps (even lots of free ones!!!), and much much more.
Overall, this is the greatest MP3 player on the market!!!

I'm still learning about I touch. From what I see I can only listen to music with earphone. As for e-mail is owesome, no need to turn on your computer to see your mail. What can I say, this is a gadget that lets you do so many thing in such a tiny and slim form factor. Other than the usual iPod touch features, I can comfortably read entire books, download daily newspapers, share documents, check weather, socialize, keep in touch and be productive, all without being chained to a desk. Ok it is very annoying to get something from the same company that makes the ipod and find out its not compatible with ipod-compatible things. For instance with the touch you cannot hook it up to your xbox usb (to play your songs over your stereo system). It does not recognize it! Apple changed the operating system so that windows devices do not recognize it. Only itunes recognizes this device.
The other problem with this is the wifi. At first it sounds good that you get wifi connection - but after having this thing for a mointh I can tell you there are very few areas that have free wifi. Most people in this day and age know how to password protect their router so you cant use this thing. So basically you have an iphone without the phone, camera or microphone (so no apps that use a microphone)and an ipod that is not compatible with things that recognize ipods (except itunes).
This turned out to be very expensive paper weight. On the plus side, I can connect to the internet when I anm next to my router at home - but then I might as well just use my laptop.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I wish I would have known that the I-pod FM receiver does not work on the ipod touch. A FM receiver should be integrated into the unit.

OMG! This is a fantistic product. So many apps are available for this. It is not just for listening to music! Huge amount of storage. Connects well to the internet. I am even writing this review on it! The screen is ultra clear and can easily be enlarged for easier viewing capabilities. This product is great. I often don't bother to travel with my laptop computer as the iPod touch does almost everything. My old iPod was mostly for listing to music but the iPod touch I use for surfing the web and for viewing photos and showing friends and relatives slide shows.
