I procrastinated for a long time before making the jump to Apple. Certainly no regrets. My son manages his many business ventures solely on Apple products and at his strong recommendation, I bought.
My purchase was primarily for web access while moving through my day, and this is fully adequate. The other preloaded applications are completely satisfactory. The apps store is so over the top. Just go there and you will see what I mean.
PROS: Very easy to use and very user friendly. Battery life has been no problem at all.
CONS: None yet. Yes, it fingerprints easily. Not an issue for me as long as Windex is available.

I always wanted a PDA to organize my life since the early heydays of the
Palm pilot but couldnt spring for it due to the high prices. Then comes
along the iPod touch which in other words is a computer that fits in
your pocket. I have other Apple MP3 products which includes the nano and
the iPod classic however the iPod touch is the most impressive. The
screen is bright and the colors displayed are vivid. The slim size of
the iPod touch is just right for slipping it in your pocket. I would
recommend that you get a case, and not just any case I recommend getting
one of those aluminum cases with a screen protector because that gives
you maximum protection. I have dropped my iPod touch a couple of times
and I dont think any impact goes through the unit when compared to one
of those common silicon cases.
In referring to the iPod touch as a computer it all comes down to the
Apps and the Wifi Internet access. Where I live I do not get any
Wifi Internet access,however when I am out and about I do get blazing fast access which enables me to read emails and view YouTube videos. This feature alone sold me on plunking the $200 + dollars for the iPod touch.
In regards to the Apps available there are numerous ones available and being developed which includes games, utilities, business applications etc. I foresee the iPod touch used as an enterprise workhorse in the near future because the software running the iPod touch is a full fledged Operating System like Windows and Apple OS X. On the negative side of this otherwise stellar product is the pitiful battery life. It drains down really fast when playing graphic intensive games, however i think Apple has addressed this issue with the new iPod touch 2.2.2 softwarepatch release which I installed last night 2/5/2009. After the installation of this patch I see a noticeable improvement in the battery life. It could be my imagination but I recommend installing this patch,its very large, over 700 MB but I think it must be important or Apple would not have released it.
So there it is my review of the iPod touch, a truly GREAT product !!. I was disillusioned with Apple over my 4th generation iPod which gave a lot of problems, however with introduction of the iPhone and the iPod touch
Apple won me back,and solidifies their status as the most innovative
company in America and quite easily in the world.

A year ago, if anyone would have told me that I would own an iPod, I would've said "no way". I thought they were too expensive, and the lack of a radio (something that even $40 mp3 players come with) really bothered me. But last June I bought a Macbook Pro, and I love it. A friend of mine got an iPhone about the same time, and that got me thinking about the Touch. I got it last Xmas, and it's become my day planner, PDA, alarm clock, newsreader, and my latest, e-book reader. Sometimes I even forget that it plays music. I adore it. So why 4 stars and not 5? Because Apple still can't put a darn radio tuner in, mobile Safari still doesn't have Flash (come on Apple, Flash is the standard in only 99% of websites, at least I think that's what the problem is with many sites) and I wish there were support for other video formats so I can view videos that I shoot with my digital camera. The external speaker is mono quality, but if I happen to forget my headphones I can still listen to music, and for playing games it's good to not have to have your headphones on. As for the wi-fi, it works flawlessly with my Airport router, always a strong and fast connection. The apps store offerings are almost limitless. Oh, and for those people who say there are no forward or reverse controls...please. There is a link in Safari to the complete user's manual. I will definitely have to say this is by far the best MP3. It is convenient and easy to use. It has a great variety in Itunes. The battery lasts a long time. I use it mainly for music, but i will also upload movies that i haven't seen and watch them basically anywhere that I might have to wait at. I play my Ipod in my car and listen to many podcasts. And whenever I have access to Wi-fi I can get online and on my Messenger for free. The apps are great. and overall I'd have to say that the Ipod is awesome 32GB is more than enough and the external speaker allows me to watch or hear anything without having to carry around my earphones although time.

I've had my new IPod Touch for about a month now and love it more each day. I have the 16 GB and plan to exchange it for the 32 GB shortly, however as my memory is getting close to maxing out already. I have all my music stored on it like I did my last IPod Classic, but this has the built-in speaker, internet access (that I can use anywhere in the house or at work), weather updates, maps & directions, Face book, YouTube, calendar, contacts, a notepad that I use constantly for my to-do lists, shopping lists, etc., as well as many other applications. The latest app that I downloaded for free was "Lose It", a great weight loss too that calculates how many calories you can eat to lose a specified amount of weight. Then, it lets record the foods you eat during the day and the exercises you do add up all the individual and total calories consumed, less the allowance for exercise and calories burned, to net you total used and remaining calories available. Love it! I've lost over 6 lbs in 3 weeks. My goal was 2 lbs/wk and it's working. I also downloaded the free Podcast "9 weeks from couch potato to 5k" and started walking/running. Great Podcast.
I am concerned about a previous review where the Itouch went from the cold outside to the warm inside and caused condensation that was not covered under warranty. In my mind, this is a defect. It should be able to withstand at least that amount of temperature change and this reflects very poorly on apple engineers (unless they are just greedy and want to keep selling more). My son had an iPod shuffle for Christmas one year and he dropped it in the soft fresh snow and immediately picked it up, only to find that it was never to work again. I have a protective case and will be upgrading to a new leather one with the hopes of a moderately durable product. This is the 5th iPod purchase for me and there are only two working. While the innovation is great and practical use is great (5-star), the design and durability is poor (1-star) so I ultimately give this a 3. I hope that the durability proves to be better.

The iPod Touch is sn amazing device, but the battery life could be longer. It lasts only one day for me using all of its features. Although That s. This is the first actual IPOD I have ever owned, so I did very extensive research on this before purchasing. I must say it is worth the money! The user interface is incredible, and its ability to carry so many types of media and reproduce video and pics with such brilliance stunned me.
The screen does gets fingerprints, but does appear to be scratch resistant. I recommend some sort of case to protect your investment.
Never before have I had anything where I could carry movies with me, so this is great for films with a digital copy available!
Sound quality of the earphones stinks, so upgrade those and you'll be glad you did.

I bought the Ipod touch for my wife. She enjoys the card games that are available for it. I own a Palm TX for work which she used to play on and was adding wear to the screen. The Ipod touch is an amazing, enjoyable device. I looked at the competing higher end MP3 players but found the Ipod touch was the most versatile of all of them. The battery capacity is not as good as my Palm, but it is sufficient to play two or three hours of card games at a time. I bought the 8 meg. Well, I bought an iPod touch for my son and my husband for Christmas and they fell in love instantly!! The apps, the games,the music, the internet access, the email, I could go on and on... Then, I had to have one. So I bought a 3rd... soon we will be getting one for our other son (as he uses mine all the time now) and our daughter since we will be traveling abroad soon and it will be great entertainment for them on the long plane trip. I also have found that with the email we can all send quick messages to each other and keep in touch when we're off in different directions! I love that I can sync my outlook calendar and contacts with the itouch as it helps me keep my calendar with me all the time. My first Ipod Touch came without a working touch screen, so sent it back and received a new one. All was well for the first two weeks until I tried to ugragde the OS to the new 2.2 version. Halfway though, the Ipod crashed and never powered up again despite resetting. I called Apple support and thought it took 30 minutes, I finally convinced them that this Ipod was dead. I later searched on the web and found many postings of the same nature (crash on upgrade to 2.2.).
Apple told me to take it to the nearest repair facility for repair/replacment. I've had an Ipod Classic for three years and never had a single crash or upgrade issue. The Ipod Touch... a total failure on something as simple as an upgrade? The technical support said perhaps my fire wall had something to do with preventing an upload of the Bonjour software, which somehow is necessary for Ipods to update...that was never made clear. So, it's off to Apple for the second time in as many weeks with a dodgy Ipod Touch.
This is a great little item when it works. Checking E-mail, video, games, long battery life, great touch screen functionality...all wonderfully bundled into a neat gadget. But what good is it when it crashes and burns when you take Apple's suggestion to update the software? This is not an isolated incident and Apple does not have much to say about it. Apple said the turn-a-round on replacing the item is about three to four days but I'm off on an international trip tomorrow and very disappointed that my handy-dandy Ipod Touch will not make the trip. I got this to replace my old 3rd gen nano which was washed and this is truly AMAZING the touch screen is sick and I've loaded mine up with apps. It's so kool i can do whatevr i want on this tyhe internet works really well (if you know how to zoom I didnt at first). The mosin sencing is cool to. I totaly recomend this ipod... so... The device itself is wonderful. It works great for playing music and videos. I was hoping that it would replace my palm pilot, but it does not quite cut it. The notes feature does not snyc with MS outlook. It has a notes feature, but it will not communicate with Outlook. There is a third party notes feature that will allow me to upload my notes to the internet, but I have to do that at a WiFi hot spot, I can't do that over my DSL connection.
A drawback of the operating system it that music stored on the device has to also be stored on the hard drive of my desktop. That can hog up a lot of hard drive space. I had to restore my hard drive, and when I did, the Itunes software decicded to erase everything from my ipod. I was very disappointed.
The device gets 5 stars for the hardware and as a portable DVD replacement, but the quality of the operating system is just not up to the standard that I expect from Apple. If you want to replace your PDA this device is not the best choice, get a Blackberry. I really think apple has missed the mark advertising the iPod touch mainly as a game machine . The apps are extraordinarily useful ... I'm very glad I decided ( at the last minute ) to get the 32 gb model. I'm not using the iPod portion that much --some music and podcasts, but the add on apps have been very VERY useful. The screen is gorgeous , the keypad easy to use. If I had to quibble I'd say my biggest gripe is that flash and shockwave don't work yet. I know why apple has done that, but it's inconvenient. Youtube videos are fine. Battery life okay if you arent on the internet the whole time -- i am, so it gets about five or six hours.Wifi reception has been excellent. Built in speaker is tinny and not loud enough, but i rarely use it so i didnt take off for that.There's an app to share files with your computer wirelessly, which is handy for transferring stuff via webdav connection to read later when you have no connection. Another app lets you capture articles from news and web sources to revisit later. There's even an app to make voip calls from the touch.(you have to add earphones with a mic -- picked up a pair on amazon for $7 and now make occasional calls via Internet. there have been a few times that I REALLY missed not being able to connect when away from wifi, but I do not miss the 2 yr contract to at&t. if you have wireless handy and don't need a full service phone contract this is the answer. My wife and I bought this iPod for my mother on her 79th birthday. She wanted an iPhone, but we thought (after some research) that the device was more than she would actually use, especially considering the expensive calling plan.
After some discussion and still more research, I realized that my mother might get what she wanted (Internet access from her bed, a poker game, and streaming Pandora) from the iPod Touch. Well, we were right. My mother has said several times not that it is the best present she has ever gotten, and that she uses it everyday.
One caveat, my mother did have to buy a wireless router for her Internet services, but don't let that scare you away, they're not very expensive and easy to setup (if you follow the brief directions). I bought this for my daugher who is away at college. It allows her to download study guides from the internet in addition to music, videos, etc. She is able to go on mission trips and study with her ipod on the long road trips. It has proven to be worth every penny! Would buy it again tomorrow if I had to. She is exceptionally pleased and hoping to be able to use it to the glory of God in the near future. I have not had an iPod prior to this purchase. I am primarily a music consumer but I wanted something with all the bells and whistles there were to be had, this is IT! It is easy to use and the quality of the sound is great as long as you are not counting on the built in speaker. I believe this speaker was added more for games and such. I connect it to my home stereo and car stereo and the sound is great. The pictures I put on it look awesome and the wifi capability is really sweet. For me the only drawback is the small letter keys for typing in data. I have owned ipods since they were first released and have upgraded to newer versions about 5 times. Although i have to admit that the UI (User interface) on the itouch/iphone is the most amazing in every portable mp3 device or phone ever built, apple has made some changes to the hardware on the itouch that have completely disappointed me to a point where I sold my 32Gb itouch and bought a 120Gb ipod classic instead. Apple decided to change the connector inside the device by removing the pin that allows firewire functionality, this means that with many third party peripherals and accessories you won't be able to charge your itouch as it plays. Another example, my car came with a built-in ipod interface which works great with any other ipod models except for the itouch, with the ipod video i owned before, it used to play AND charge through the interface, it worked perfectly, I never had to take the ipod out of my car for over a year, it was always charged!!! Then, with the itouch, not only it didn't charge, but it also froze my car stereo and would make the itouch soft reset itself. It was a true pain in the a@@. I spoke with several 2nd and 3rd tier tech guys from ipod support and they were the ones that explained what had been removed in the itouch, they also explained that it was NOT a software issue, it is caused by the hardware change that apple decided to make. Bad mistake!! I am glad the video/classic ipod i bought again works fine. Too bad because i did like the user interface on the itouch. Simple to use with endless possibilities given the selection of apps available. Works nicely with iTunes - in fact, it makes it almost too easy to buy songs, books, apps, movies, etc. Battery life is okay - about 2 days for me before I need to charge it, although I'm using it quite a bit since it's a new toy. Wish it were longer. I would recommend the earphones with a microphone and remote. The remote is very useful, allowing volume control, pause, etc. without unlocking the screen every time you need to adjust something. Apple should package these earphones with the iPod iTouch. The apple ipod truly separates itself from other musical devices on the market. However, if you are not a native to North America you are locked out of its applications, you cannot download from apple, you cannot register online (without a U.S. address or credit card) and if there are no stores in your country you are basically doomed!

I bought this I Touch more for it's Wi Fi than as an mp3. It's light, small and get's my E mail in seconds. Who needs to pay extra cell phone charges, when you can use this. I purchased this for my son who had been in a third world country for 2 years. I was hoping it would make his transition easier into normal life. He was able to download lots of different free apps for it and it has become his window to the world. I love that you can e-mail from it, google things, get the weather and it even has google earth so he can pinpoint addresses he has been or is going to. It is able to remind him of appointments also. Before he got home I figured out how to convert home videos to ipod format and put them on his ipod touch too. I digitally scrapbook and put all of his scrapbook pages on the ipod. That is very cool. It allowed him to carry one small item in his pocket versus 3 large scrapbooks. The iPod Touch debuted only one year ago, and this is the first update. I was excited to pick up the new iPod Touch at the Apple Store because I had never owned a first generation, though I do own iPhones.
I want to concentrate primarily on the new features:
First, physical volume buttons are now placed on the side of the iPod Touch as they are on the iPhone. This is very convenient. It allows you to adjust the volume of your music, without having to pull the entire device out of your pocket and activate the screen. A time saver.
Second, many people requested a built-in speaker for the iPod Touch like is available on the iPhone. Apple listened. However, there is one important point to make on this! The iPod Touch is incredibly small, and Apple is forced to put an incredibly small speaker. The speaker in the iPod Touch sounds worst than the speaker in the iPhone. I have compared it side by side, and it's fairly significant, and the iPhone speaker isn't that great to begin with. However, in a quiet room, the speaker is still useful for previewing a song you might want to buy, or for playing games. However, still, if you want great sound, you need to connect your headphones.
Genius - This new feature is really surprisingly good. When you're listening to a song you enjoy, select the genius option. It will create a playlist for you, with songs that go together nicely with the one you started with. It helps you rediscover great music from your collection with a playlist suited to the mood you're in. I didn't think it would do a good job compiling this list, but it has been quite impressive.
Applications - It's great to have the ability to buy (or get some free) applications right on the iPod Touch. Furthermore, with the software update this new iPod Touch comes with, the Application installation process is so much smoother than it had been even on my iPhone. It now works how you want it to, seamlessly. I like having a weather application that includes doppler radar images, and that is free. I also have several games on it. There is a great variety of applications available from hundreds of third-parties right on the iPod itself, so you are certain to find something that interests you. I really like the new release of Spore, for the iPod Touch and iPhone. Apple is really pushing the games and quietly suggest they are challenging Nintendo and Sony. They are innovative and interesting games, but I think they have a ways to go, to challenge those game makers.
Nike + is now built in too, so if you have the shoes and the puck, the iPod Touch is ready to receive the data from it. Battery life is improved to 36 hours audio and 6 hours video according to Apple. I find the audio number fairly accurate if you don't light up the display much, but the video number is a slight bit harder to achieve.
Of course, the new ipod Touch does look and feel even better than the first generation, from my small experiences with the previous one. I also think it feels cooler than my iPhones, but obviously your interpretation may very. I like the metal back on the iPod Touch. It looks classy, though it is prone to scratches.
One of my favorite features continues to be, when in my home on Wi-Fi, to reach down for the Touch, use Safari web browser and look something up. It's great.
Overall, it was a solid update for the iPod Touch. I wish the speaker could be better on it, but I believe that is due to the physical restrictions of the small device. I could have knocked it to four stars for that, but I think most people realize a built in speaker isn't the way you want to listen to most audio on an iPod to begin with. I'm impressed by the second generation iPod Touch, and I think with the third party applications getting better and becoming more popular, more people will consider the Touch.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I purchased this for my daughter of 16 and she couldn't be happier. Works great. The games you can download for this are incredible and she hasn't stopped playing them. This is a very simple and fun pda to use. I like the easy connection to the internet using wifi. I now read the paper, get up to date weather, tv and movie listings, daily on my ipod - all with a touch of a colorful icon on the screen. I am very happy with this product, it was a gift to my wife, and she is enjoying the use of this device to store music, video, and pictures, she hasn't found out that could store data on it too, how ever is a good piece of engineering. Really enjoying this replacement for my old pda. Nice calendar and contact functions. Had trouble setting up mail but now works great. Lots of nice free apps. Apple phone support is limited but I'm close to an Apple Store so they helped me.

I love the Ipod Touch. I couldn't live without it now. I thought it was a little pricey when I bought it but it does so much that I found out why it's so pricey and it's well worth the money. There were only a few things I don't like. The fact that it doesn't tell you much about what comes on it when you buy it and in my opinion it really should come with some kind of game on it even if it's a free one. The instructions really don't tell you how to do a lot of things and so I had to do a lot of searching on the internet for answers. Also if you plan on using it to view movies or videos on your TV be warned that you can't just buy the cheapest A/V cable there is. I went through 3 or 4 before I finally got it to work. And if you plan on buying a dock for it and using it to connect to your TV, you can only use the Apple A/V cables because of the chip in the cable. You can hear sound with any cables but you have to have Apple's to get the video to work. In my opinion, I would think they make enough money off of you when you buy it and you really should be able to buy cheaper things for it. The games and applications are pretty reasonably priced. There are some really good free games and apps and others that start at .99 cents and go up to 9.99 or more. So if you are looking for a an awesome MP3 player to listen to music on and that you can play games on and make grocery list and keep track of just about anything you can think of, and do it just by touching the screen, then you will love this product. I used to have the original iPod Video. When iTouch 1G came out, I wanted to buy it, but never did . I felt it was unnecessary and a waste of money considering I've only had my Video for about a year and a half. However, when iTouch 2G came out, I just couldn't resist.It was the best investment everrr! Honestly, the iPod is great. Internet, big screen, touch screen, EXTERNAL SPEAKERS (my favorite part), really slim and a great design--what's not to love? I never want to get rid of this iPod, and I'm so glad I waited for 2G. Plus, it's cheaper than the first one, and you're getting much more. All my friends with the first iTouch are jealous!
If you're stuck between getting an 8GB or a 16GB, I would ask myself what I'm using it for. If I'm gonna have more than 1,000 songs and want a lot of video, I would go with the 16GB. I have an 8GB and perfectly fine with it!Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.
