I fought with myself for quite a while about puchasing an iPod. Part of me didn't want to jump on the bandwagon, or feel like I had to buy the expensive brand name. I actually purchased several other mp3 players. But, they kept breaking. Finally, I bit the bullet and bought the iPod touch.
I went with the touch because of the internet capabilities. That way, I can check my email, the weather, the stock market and enjoy other features beyond simply listening to music.
In fact, I don't often listen to music on my iPod touch. I listen more to teaching than anything else. I have the entire King James Bible on my iPod, a lot of sermons, and some praise and worship music as well.
I highly recommend the iPod touch. Not only does it look good and sound good, but it has so much storage space, I've used only a fraction of it and have over 6 days of material to listen to before I start getting to repeats.
With all of the negativity in the world, my iPod touch keeps me firmly grounded in the Word. I can listen to God's word through speech and music anytime.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

If you don't need to be constantly on the internet this could be for you. It pretty much does what an iphone will do except make phone calls and to get on line you need to be in a wi fi area. On the plus side you don't have the $30.00/month charge fron AT&T that comes with an iphone.
I'm 70 years old and definately not on the cutting edge of electronics, but I have found the ipod touch to be easy to use and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm using it for most of my e-mails.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

Great way to listen to music, internet access, etc.
Best ipod ever.....a phone short of the iphone!
Wish it had:
-Easier way to upload movies (reason I got rid of my portable DVD player for travel)
-A camera
-a free update to 3.0 software for certain apps & features like bluetooth, cut-copy-paste
-lock button to save battery
Overall I love it, crazy expensive for the 32gb thoughGet more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I had my ipod touch for 5 days before I returned it. During that time I spent at least 15 hours trying to figure out how to get it to opperate correctly. I do not know if it was something I was doing wrong, or if there was something wrong with the ipod. I am sure that someone at apple could have resolved my ipod's issues, however my attempts at contacting their customer service failed. I had no choice but to return it.
The ipod touch came with very little instructions on getting started. My coworker, who has one, even admitted this. However, I was able to load in some albums and some pictures without too much trouble. One of the problems was that in itunes there was a file for music, and a file for videos, but no file for photos. I was not exactly sure how they got loaded in the first place. But the real problem was with loading some videos that I had created. They would not load at all, and I was not getting an error message.
I spent many hours searching apples web site trying to find out what the problem was. I got the answer from another ipod touch user, not from apple. Apparently videos need to be converted to a format that the ipod recognizes. Although according to apple, the 2nd generation ipod touch, which is what I had, is suppose to automatically convert the videos without having to go through a middle process, you just drag the video from the computer into the itunes video file and the conversion would happen automatically. Since that wasn't happening, I down loaded a trial version of a conversion software the ipod touch user recommended. This worked partway, it allowed me to put the video in the itunes file, but it would not sync to my ipod. Also I believe this somehow corrupted my ipod, because after that, my albums stopped syncing.
To make a very long story a little bit shorter, I spent many hours trying to fix the problem, including resetting the ipod twice. All this without the help of apple support.
I tried to contact apple several times. They have this process where you make an appointment to have someone call you back. On the 2nd page of this process they have you put in the ipod's serial number, and then the date that you purchased it. When I did this I got a message that said the purchase date appears to be incorrect. So I put the date that the purchase cleared my bank. I got the same message. I bought this item from amazon, so I am not sure how apple would know when I purchased it. In any case it said that I could do this part later and that a service rep could help me with it. So I advanced to the next page of this process. There I selected from a drop down menu which apple product this was referring to. After that there was nothing. No messages. Nothing else to click. No more pages. Nothing. It just ended. I waited for a while thinking that it might be processing. Still nothing.
I fully admit that my inability to get my ipod touch to operate correctly could easily be something I was doing wrong. But without any customer support I will never know. I feel I put in an extraordinary effort to solve it on my own and that a little apple support was well earned. Right now I have very negative feelings towards apple. It will be a long time before I consider buying one of their products again.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

iPod touch 2nd Generation
Summary: Just get one. I wasted a lot of time reading all of these reviews and other product reviews when I could have just ordered it and been on my way.
If you must read:
I got this because I thought it was neat looking, but I didn't want to because 120GB seemed so much better for available space. I went for it anyway.
If you think it's better to have 120 GB instead of 8, 16, or 32GB, then you have no idea how much fun you are missing out on. This does so much that you might wonder why you were even considering anything else. I personally can't listen to 120GB worth of music in between computer syncs. If I was a DJ or something then I'd go for the 120GB.
Operation is great, no annoying clicking of controls or disturbing others while in use (you can adjust the sounds it makes if you want). It's easy to use even if you have arthritis. Nice and crisp images. Download and watch episodes of shows on TV, many for free. You can even watch the shows on the computer or hook it up to your TV (need extra cable for this). It has a screen saver and will also prevent accidental touching and changing things when you don't want to.
Too many other "oh, that's neat" features to remember or comment on. They obviously put a lot of thought into this to make it user friendly.
Also really nice if you have time to kill, such as waiting for someone, relaxing or getting educated on one of the games, applications or TV shows.
Most agree that the speaker is not good, but I'm glad they put it in. I can listen to my music to add some background sound. A plus for me. If you like to hear your music and are not concerned with high dollar sound, then this is fine. Remember, they didn't have to put it in and you don't have to listen to it. It's a portable device, not a sound system.
I've heard complaints about PDF files. But I can view them and zoom in some in order to see what I need to see when I'm out. I put one of the applications on it to do this.
For those of you concerned with DRM (Digital Rights Management), I've read that the music is now DRM free as of April 2009.
It has a search function that lets you find anything anywhere just by typing in the search box. The encrypted things are not found, such as personal info in applications like e-wallet and the like.
Of course the accessory market for these is fantastic like no other brand.
You might want a case with a belt clip, since there is no clip with it.
High speed internet is highly desired for a lot of downloads, but not essential for some basic use. A wireless router adds a lot of function such as weather, stocks, web surfing, TV guide, maps and head to head gaming with someone with another iPod touch in another part of the country.
Download iTunes now and check it out all the categories, you'll see a lot of things there (especially if you are not familiar with iTunes). You don't need an iPod to see all the stuff you can get for the iPod. They want a valid email address to send what you need to install it. Also a credit card, or bank info, or you might be able to set it up with the gift cards that you can get at many places, but I'm not sure about that. Maybe someone can confirm or deny that in other reviews. I haven't ever had any spam or credit card charges or anything (I use the gift cards instead); just email receipts for stuff I purchased. It will also prepare you for when you get it. You will be up and running faster if you check it out beforehand.

The iPod Touch 32GB (2nd Generation) is most enjoyable. I bought it to have my favorite music convenient for my use. I have also added Kindle books, books from Olive Tree, and books from Laridian. I am reading and studying much more since the information is readily available. The Book of Common Prayer, several translations of the Bible, and Bible commentaries are also on my iPod Touch. This iPod Touch is my constant companion.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I was very excited to purchase my Ipod touch and really loved all the features. It really does do everything. I even purchased the Nike + for it and with an arm band, and silicone case, used to it work out. About 4 months after purchase, the on/off button stopped resonding, then the wi-fi stopped working, then my Nike + was not recognized. I called Apple and they promptly sent me a box to ship it back to them for repair. I was advised by Apple the next day that my Ipod had water damage?? And it was being shipped back to me unrepaired as this was not covered by their warranty. I never got the thing wet! I never took it in the rain! The only thing I can think of was sweat from when I worked out and/or humidity. I did a little research on line and found out that the water sensor can be tripped very easily by both humidity and as little as a speck of water, rendering your ipod full of problems. You would think that since this Ipod has the built in Nike+ feature and is suppose to be great to work out with, it could withstand some sweat or humidity. I do live in MI and we do get humid weather here on certain days. I am very disappointed in this product and find it to be extremely flimsy. I spent $369 on a product 4 months ago that I am now going to have to have repaired at some ridiculous price! Apple customer service was not very helpful and made me feel like I was lying to them! While I love the design and all the capabilities of the Ipod Touch, I think Apple needs to rethink its durability design.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

Has a solid feel. That slick look looks sweet but it's a fingerprint magnet and will easily slip out of a pocket or hand if you're not careful. Great screen. I can surf the web through my home wireless network. It's great wherever wireless internet is available. YouTube videos look crisp and clear. Easy zoom & pan makes it possible to view full size web pages, a big change from my windows based phone that is only practical with pages optimized for small screen. An upgrade came out less than a month after I bought it which adds some nice features like bluetooth support and landscape keyboard. I haven't gotten it yet. It irks me that it'll cost me ten bucks to upgrade a brand new device. Almost all upgrades in the Windows world are free. Welcome to the world of Apple. The only way to put music on it was to load iTunes onto my computer. iTunes and syncing the device takes getting used. Not folder based, iTunes looks up artist, title, album, etc on the Internet and arranges the songs like it wants to. It gets correct info most of the time, very wrong sometimes. Can be manually corrected. I still prefer having songs in directories but it's not an option here. Plays MP3's as well as the Apple formats. I had to re-rip about a dozen albums because that particular flavor of MP3 wouldn't play on the iPod even though they would play on the computer in iTunes. (Another 50 or so MP3 albums including those ripped with Windows Media Player had no problems.) You can have iTunes correct problem MP3's but I would only do that if I no longer had the original to re-rip. This is the 32GB model, I've got about 7,000 songs on it, no video & it's about 80% full. I haven't timed the battery but I'm impressed with how long it lasts. Can be recharged from any USB but you have to have that proprietary cable that comes with the iPod. I love the iPod touch. The 32 GB would have been great if I was able to get it shipped to me from the seller that I tried to go thru... Said that they didn't have a printer to print out the customs forms to send it to my deployed location. I had to settle for the 16GB version. I could have really used the extra space, but the touch is perfect for me here. Don't have to carry around my laptop any more. Got everything on the touch. It is kind of wierd that you can't use the normal chargers for this version. You have to use the plug that you plug the USB into, don't get the firewire version or it'll say that it is not supported.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

My 14YO received this as a gift and he has hardly put it down since. For the most part, he uses this more often than his laptop. He has games, access to the internet, videos, applications, information, emails-- including his 'top secret' yahoo and google email accounts... It has everything a 14 YO could ever want or need.
One thing that concerned me, before we even selected this one, was the reports of problems people had with their ipods getting water damage from humid environments or from sweating while working out. It seems ridiculous that Apple has not addressed this problem and seems content to let the problem be the responsibility of an unsuspecting public. But that was also the way they dealt with our irreplaceable batteries on the first generation ipods. It wasn't until enough pressure was put on Apple that the batteries became available and could be replaced instead of replacing the ipod. I have not heard a word about Apple addressing this problem.
To protect us from this problem, my 14YO uses other devices when he is out running or for carrying around to school or sailing. That has worked out for a variety of reasons, including his amazing and incredible ability to set things down and walk away from them.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I got the iPod touch just one month ago, and i dont know how i lived without it. I have been on it every day since i got it, i have'nt missed a single day. I sometimes forget about the music and just play the apps' and go on youtube, and also check the weather. But since it is so thin and slik it is easy to travel with and a great MP3 player. One of the best features is the built in speakers. I love them, its convient when you are with a group of people and you want to play music or a video outloud. The touch screen is perfect, you never find yourself pressing hard, to get the "key" you need to work. Meaning it is sensitive enough to work even with a light tap. Although the ipod is so great in many ways it does have one flaw. whenever you watch videos on the iPod, it uses a lot of the charge. So i constantly find myself charging it. but if you charge it completly then the batery last a lot longer, than if you charge it partly.
If you are debating between the 16gb and the 8gb, i would just get the 8gb because if you add videos and apps, that take up a lot of space and then you run out room you always can take them off your ipod and then when you want them back on you can just add them again. If you are planning on putting a lot of videos on your ipod though, you should get the ipod with more GB'S because videos do take up lots of space. I do love this product, you should think about getting one yourself.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

As a Mac lover and user for over 14 years, I'm fascinated by most of the products that Apple launches every year. The iPod touch, like most of its contemporary products, has a great design and interface. That said, I bought the 8Gb model as a present for my wife. She absolutely loved it, and spends a lot of time messing around with her new toy. Unfortunately, since we don't live in the US and therefore, don't have American credit cards, we don't have access to the US iTunes store. I think that the lack of globalization in this aspect is a big factor. Without the same apps, we're limited to not so good ones and a much smaller quantity. Since Apple products are sold and used all over the world, I don't see why there shouldn't be just one big international iTunes store, where anybody can buy anything. Without that, we're limited to basically the apps that come with the iPod.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

This Aamzing little ipod is just about one of the best products to come out since the 1st Computer. It has the iTunes store right on it (Without a computer needed!), Buy Movies, Music Videos, Music, and browse the web in the palm of your hand. Also browse Facebook, and Amazon too!

A family member recommended the Ipod touch to me as a useful accessory for my simple business. And I have to say, it is the handiest gadget I could ever hope for. I no longer have to pull out my laptop at Starbucks to clean up my email, I just crunch through it on my Ipod Touch. It syncs with my Outlook calendar, and has several useful applications. I can keep up with news and even twitter with it. It even had lots of space for a couple of movies when I went on vacation.
I took a star away because it is a delicate machine. I dropped it and dented the button that turns it off. This has not diasbled it, it goes into sleep mode by itself.
At the Apple store, they took one look at it, and they have ordered a new one for me! So the customer service at Apple seems to be top-notch once you figure out how it works. I have been a PC kinda guy, so I had to learn that you make an appointment to talk to the service department. I love my iPod. It can do so many things that I barely use my computer anymore, except for writing. It does everything that amazon says it does, plus a whole lot more. However, I wouldn't recomend this if all you would be doing with it is listening to music. I know it's an mp3 player, but its to expensive if you're only going to use it for music (nothing's wrong with the music). I wouldn't get it if you don't have wifi either, as about seventy percent of what it can do is based of wifi (browsing, some of the games, email, texting, and app/movies/music downloads. Also its not as delicate as I thought. I dropped it from about three or four feet onto linolium and it was fine. I also got a little water on it and it blacked out for a while but I reset it and it worked again.
Pros
Music is great. The sound is good, and its really easy to find the song I'm looking for.
The touch screen it really sensitive and it doesn't get to many smudges.
The accelometer is much better than I expected. Very sensitive.
Web browsing is fast and easy. My computer sits gathering dust.
Keyboard is pretty good, if I can put it on landscape mode, which not all the apps have.
Genius picks good songs for me. I love it! Almost like an offline pandora.
I got a texting app for six bucks, and it is great! It has unlimited texts to pretty much any phone (in America). There's a free version that only has fifteen texts a day which it pretty good too.
The kindle app is great. The print isn't to small, its got a good selection the downloads are fast, and its easy too use. Some of the books are even free, and they're not bad either.
The apps are great. At least half of them are free and they can do so many different things. Check out the app store on your computer and you'll see what I mean.
I like that you can double click the home button at any time and it will bring up the music options.
Being able to buy songs and apps on the ipod is a huge plus for me. I hate messing with that on my computer.
The brightness adjusts automatically which is great.
There are many more pros, but I can't write them all. Here are some of the cons, mostly just minor annoyances.
Cons
I'll start with the big one. It doesn't come with the 3.0 update. What's worse is that you have to pay ten dollars to get it. That's the only reason I didn't give this five stars.
Itunes wasn't as bad as usual (I have a computer running on Windows XP, and all my music was in WMA format). I just drag and dropped all my songs from My Music to the Itunes library and it gave me the option to convert them to AAC format, which is compatable with Itunes and iPod. Still it would be nicer if they could just accept WMA.
When the keyboard doesn't work for landscape mode (widescreen) it's really kind've cramped and hard to type.
If I'm laying on my side playing with it, the screen with flip so it's sideways to me. Annoying!
The battery life when you're actively using it is kind of poor.
The email is pretty good, but not great. I use the same email for my computer as for my iPod, but when I open them on my iPod it doesn't open them on my computer, so when I sign in it says 'You have two million new messages' or whatever. Also there's no landscape keyboard.
It freezes every once in a while, but it recovers after a couple seconds.
I can't think of anything else. If you have wifi and the desire to use it for things besides music, I say go for it!

I bought this item from amazon and had it brought over from the US to Ecuador by a friend of mine a couple months ago.
I really enjoyed my iPod until I realized that during one of my travels the volume button was damaged probably when it was in my backpack. I was actually a bit upset because I had taken such great care of it.
My idea was actually to pay for a replacement of the button, if possible... I took it to an authorized tech center here in Ecuador and without even asking for it, they told me that I could get a replacement of the entire unit under warranty within 2 weeks.
It took less than a week for them to call me back and let me know that the new unit was already here.
Props to Apple for this kind of worldwide service. I am now definitely considering getting my hands on more apple products. Bravo to them!Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I won't duplicate many of the other reviewer's excellent comments and will keep this short so I can relate what I like best about the iPod Touch.
Other than listening to music, the other major reason I bought this was to use it to make phone calls using Skype. If you have a wireless connection you can make phone calls to anyone using Skype. Computer to computer is free, and calls to regular phones are about 2 cents a minute in the USA. To use this feature you will need earphones with a microphone and software version 3.0.
Other useful features using the wireless connection are stock quotes, weather forecasts, maps, and the web browser. I've already found the Maps feature very useful to find several addresses.
Everyone has different needs, but I recommend the iPod Touch because it does everything I expected and more. I also bought the DLO HipCase Leather Folio Case for iPod touch 1G and 2G (Black). It provides excellent protection and is very well made.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I had an older iPod with the monochrome screen and thought that it was great. The iTouch has completely changed the way I travel for business!
If you send any amount of time traveling for work or pleasure this is the one device you should have. It allows you to not only listen to music but the screen is wide enough to watch a movie or read a book without getting a headache.
The video quality is first class and the great battery life while watching video will allow you stay entertained even on long flights.
If you add the kindle app that you can download for free you can purchase and download books from Amazon while on the road.
The new 3.0 OS has added some nice features including the ability to record voice messages.
The switch from the older style iPod has been just as cool as the switch from PC to iMac outstanding.
The only thing I would change is the size. I would go for the 16 GB.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

A few years ago I bought my first iPod Photo, and recently it just died so I went out and bought and iPod Touch. Now at first I wasn't sure about getting a Touch because of all the other touch screen MP3 players like the Archos, or the V-Touch, but after researching all of them the iPod Touch comes out on top for the following reasons:
1. Much better customer support
2. Many more games
3. Touch screen responds better
4. A lot thinner
5. Syncs to your computer easier
6. Battery lasts forever!
Now besides these main reasons, there are other, smaller reasons like there is a mail application on the iPod and the other two don't have that feature. You have much more customizable options for the menu and controls. You can even play games online, even without WiFi!
Now be warned, the iPod back scratches VERY easily! I recommend getting ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD for protecting the back, and front from getting scratched. That is the only con that this generation Touch has, that I can find after owning one for over six months. I can hardly wait to see what they are coming out with next! If you want my opinion on that one, check back with me because I'm definitely going to get one!

After we gave my 16 year old an iTouch for Christmas I watched in amazement at all he could do with it. I was soon so envious I had to get one too! Now I have my very own and I can't imagine lugging a laptop on vacation anymore now that I've got my purse-size little laptop. I can check my email, browse online, play VERY cool games, read up on the latest news...you name it!
Obviously I recommend it. Even at 50 I can use the keyboard without too much difficulty and read the font no problem.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

Perfect for me. I was looking for a PDA, and the ipod touch has it all. Great speed, tons of apps, enough memory, and good battery life makes it a good catch. I would highly recommend itGet more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) LATEST MODEL
I'd coveted an iPod touch for a while, and a $100 Amazon gift token tipped the balance. I opted for the 16 GB on the basis that I wouldn't be able to watch / listen to all that content before I flattened the battery. Add a Web browser (safari :(), a few hundred MB of apps (newspapers, rss feeds, radio...**cough** games) and I effectively have everything I need from a netbook computer! Get yourself a Skype client and you van make VoIP calls without being tied to an IPhone and what laughably passes for a phone service from AT&T.
I'd give it 4.5 out of 5... It loses 0.5 star for not running background apps, the Bluetooth profile doesn't support handsfree headsets and there is as yet no flash client... And if someone (the BBC?), will enable iPlayer for Radio to be accessed from the Colonies I'd love them!!! Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

The IPod Touch is a brilliant peice of electronics. It is one of the best gadgets I own.
The features are very cool and I love using the wi-fi at home, while relaxing on the deck in the backyard or even at the local coffee shop.
This is one of the best purchases I have made in a while and the price on Amazon was the best around.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I love my iTouch! I bought it as a high school graduation present for myself a few months ago, and it has met or exceeded every expectation. Out of my library of 315 songs (and growing) and at least a dozen applications, I have not even made a significant dent in the 8 GB of storage space. The battery life, despite its constant use, has remained the same for the three months I've had it: I only charge it every other day, sometimes two.
It is very easy to learn how to use; after spending only an afternoon playing with it, I figured out all the neat features. This has been a great buy as both a tool and a toy, and has been a wonderful upgrade from the 2 GB first-generation nano I'd been using!Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I wanted the functionality of the iphone but not the contract associated with it. The 8gig iPod Touch is an amazing device. It plays my music and my video. That can mean TV shows or movies. The iTunes store takes this amazing device to the next level.
In addition to the previously mentioned music and video, you can download a TON of applications. Want to lose weight ? There's an app for that. Want to read e-books on the go ? There's an app for THAT ! Want to pretend you're Luke Skywalker wielding your lightsaber against the dark side of The Force ? Yeah, there's a silly little app for that, too. You can also subscribe to podcasts - audio and video - to entertain and inform you on a host of subjects.
There's also wifi connectivity, a calculator, calendar, and alarm clock. Plus, with the latest version of the OS, we now have copy and paste. This thing honestly gets better with each passing day. Having owned a PDA or two in the past - I can honestly say that this is the best entertainment/organizer tool/toys ever.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

The internal charging pin stopped working. Apple claims physical damage and will not cover it even though it was purchased only six months ago. No more Apple products for me. I'm switching to Archos. If Apple had covered there mechanical part I would have stayed an Apple customeGet more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I wish I had bought this earlier. I use it everyday to check my emails, stocks, News, Facebook... The list of applications you can download from iTune is endless. Great to travel to listen to music or watch TV shows or movies. It is like an iPhone without the phone and the camera and most importantly without the expensive iPhone plan. You can find Wi-Fi almost everywhere nowadays.
At this point it may be worth waiting for the new iPod Touch (announced today by Apple) with a microphone and a camera.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

One would think that the primary purpose of a cellphone would be excellent sound quality and a compact, light design. Look elsewhere if that is what you desire. This phone is heavy and has only fair sound quality. Also AT&T is not Verizon- network not as extensive as Verizon. Good email, web, OK camera and many applications. Most people love it but then again I tend to be a meat and potatoes type person. Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I have been wanting to purchase an iphone, but am only midway through a contract with a different cell company. A co-worker suggested I check out the itouch and I bought one immediately after reading all the great reviews posted here.
It is a little crazy how much I love my itouch. I've loaded it full of music, check my email on it, keep my Facebook page updated, and play a few games of Sudoku daily.
I am incredibly happy with this purchase. My itouch has quickly become my don't leave home without it item.

I've had my ipod for 6 months now and couldn't be happier with it. I'm just now beginning to realize all the great apps there are. I love all the features. I use the alarm clock every day, instead of my iHome, right there you can save some money. It's basically the iphone without the phone and camera. You can use the Skype app to talk with other people who use Skype, if you buy Apple's mic headphones, which I use and are great($[...]). There are also apps to text for free, so you can basically have the iphone without the camera, pretty good if you ask me. Wi-fi is easy to catch, music on built-in speaker sounds good, videos are crisp, youtube loads fast, compact but big screen, thin, just really overall a great and easy-to-use piece of technology for any age person.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.

I got an itouch because apple had a promotion that you could get one with a new laptop purchase. i wasn't in the market for one as i already have several ipods plus a blackberry.
i upgraded from the free 8gb to the 32 gb model (paying the difference in cost) and am very glad i did. when you add music, pictures, apps, it can all add up. and since you can't increase the memory without buying a new unit I am increasingly happy with my decision to get the larger model.
I upgraded, for 9.95 to version 3.0 software. with that you can shake you itouch and it will shuffle music, it also has more parental controls, and the ability to use the keyboard sideways. i believe it is also faster. also with 3.0, if you have mobile me, you can send a message to your phone if it is lost so that whoever sees it will get the message. also, you can have the ipod make a noise so that if you have lost it in your house or car, you can find it easier. also, with mobile me, you can delete all personal information from the itouch if it is lost and not found, that way, no one will have your contacts, calendar, etc.
One thing that i like about the itouch is the ability to easily view you tube videos, pictures, and internet (when in a wifi area). it is easier than on my blackberry. of course, on the blackberry you can use it anywhere you can get service so there is advantages to that as well.
as with all ipod/itouches this easily syncs with itunes and if you have a mac you can also sync photos, calendar, address book, notes, etc. using the calendar on this is much easier than the calendar on an ipod. in fact, i think the ipod calendar is pretty useless.
there are a lot of free apps you can download, including games to keep your kids busy. the apps are far superior than those you can get on a blackberry. and many of them are for adults too.
It is certainly a fun device and now that i have it, i wouldn't want to be without one. i do still have a classic ipod that is 60 gb, which can hold my entire itunes library so i will be keeping that. and i have the nano for exercise and will be keeping that. i guess they all serve different purposes.
This second generation itouch has speakers on it. the first didn't. they aren't great speakers, but they work. it also has voice memos.
i you purchase mobile me, you can also sync contact, calendar, mail all without hooking it up to the computer. it uses push technology and it is all done wirelessly whenever your itouch is in a wifi area. Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.
