I'd give the device four stars were it not for one stupid design/legal/copyrightnazi decision. You CANNOT use this device at all until you've connected it to a PC or MAC and fire up I-tunes to activate it.
That's right. This is a wireless device, but you can't use it until you connect it - by an old fashioned wire - to another device. Lame. Lame. Lame. What year is this Apple.
It's not just a minor gripe either. I use Linux, which means I DO NOT use I-Tunes, nor will I. So I had to wander over to a net-cafe with I-tunes on their boxes to activate this.
I also blame Amazon for not warning people that they will need either a Mac or a PC to activate this. Mac and PC requirements are given, but there's nothing to indicate that those mean anything more than that you need particular configurations to sync to i-tunes. You'd assume that with a wireless device you would be able to fire it up, configure it, connect. Nope. Amazon should clearly indicate this. So should Apple.
One final annoyance. The Apple copynazis decided to encrypt their database in the 2.x firmware in a way that effectively prevents you from downloading playable files to it via any software other than I-tunes.
Another annoyance: You can't download mp3's to the thing via the wi-fi connection. Remember that apple add way back when with all of the drones staring up at the screen. Well now those drones, that screen: THAT's MAC.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.
